Lincoln High School is a public high school in the Goose Hollow neighborhood of Portland, Oregon. It was established in 1869 making it the oldest, continuous, public high school west of the Mississippi River. The choral program at Lincoln High School has been steadily growing for the last 8 years since it was reinstated after several years of not having any choral music. In 2017, the LHS Cardinal Choir went to the OSAA State Competition for the first time in the school's history. The Cardinal Choir, our oldest and largest SATB ensemble, is also a touring ensemble. In the last five years the group has toured to Seattle, Southern California, San Francisco and Victoria, B.C. Next year the Cardinal Choir is going big! We are excited to be touring Vienna, Salzburg, and Prague in March of 2020. Last year (2018), the Chamber Choir was formed as an additional small ensemble for extremely dedicated choral musicians who want the extra challenge of being in a small group that performs more advanced literature. This coming year we are also excited to introduce the Freshmen Leadership & Inquiry (FLI) Choir that blends required FLI curriculum with choral singing. This is an exciting move for the choral program as we will now have many more freshmen singing and finding community at Lincoln. Here's to a bright future in the Lincoln choral program!
